Traditional Georgian Steel Veranda with Lightweight Solid Roof
Measuring approximately 5.4m wide by 1.2m deep, this bespoke steel veranda was designed to complement this period property while providing practical year-round shelter. The client selected our lightweight solid Zintec roof system, finished in heritage lead grey, to create shade over the pair of tall glazed doors and adjacent terrace, helping to reduce direct sunlight on this particularly sunny elevation.
As one of the finishing touches to a wider programme of renovation works, the veranda was designed to sit comfortably within the property’s architecture while offering a clean, understated appearance. Inspired by our traditional Georgian veranda design, the detailing was tailored to suit the client’s preferences, with cast aluminium shoe covers incorporated at the base of each column and the decorative spandrel brackets omitted for a more refined aesthetic. Given the property’s coastal location, the steelwork was zinc thermal coated prior to finishing in our marine-grade two-pack paint system, providing enhanced long-term protection against the elements. The result is a bespoke steel veranda that combines traditional craftsmanship with elegant, contemporary detailing.
The client had this to say – ‘The verandah has been admired by everyone who has seen it – the quality and detail speaks volumes – Fine Iron workmanship is indeed fine . we are more than delighted .’
