Cardiff Royal Infirmary Gates & Overthrow

Following a collision by a delivery lorry, the gates and highly decorative overthrow were seriously damaged as can be seen in the image on the left below. We were asked to asses the damage and provide costs for the repair work. Following submission, the decision was taken for us to carry out a full refurbishment and re decoration and also to heighten the stone piers to prevent a similar accident in the future.

Decorative Cast And Repousse features

Above we can see a mixture of decorative components, some of which are cast as the Royal Infirmary lettering and also some of the features on the main sheild and crest. The leaf work – known as repousee is all carried out by hand.
