Contemporary Balustrade with an art deco twist
Fine Iron were contacted in 2018 by the private clients of this expansive new home to realize their vision for their luxuriant circular staircase balustrade. After several discussions around design options and comparing designs and quotations from other manufacturers the clients chose to place an order with Fine Iron in 2019. The team worked closely with the clients throughout the design process to ensure that the design met their expectations sending dimensioned drawings, 3D visualizations and samples of bespoke bronze patina paint finishes for the clients approval.
Contemporary Balustrade with an art deco twist
This uniquely designed balustrade is continuous over two floors and was originally designed to cap a full string stairs, the stairs were later changed to a cut string 📖. The balustrade was already being manufactured at this point so the baserail now sits above the nosing 📖 of the treads on 20 x 20mm spigots which will be finished with decorative cast iron base covers.
The sleek panel design is simple yet striking featuring a ‘K’ design which has been mirrored on a glass internal door panel for continuity.

The balustrade is mounted on natural Portland stone treads and risers which were skillfully carved and installed by Abbey Masonry following our own recommendation to the client, contrasting delightfully with the dark bronze patina of the ironwork.

The continuous handrail 📖 is a light bronze patinated brass in frogs back profile 50 x 14mm which continues into the D tread 📖 at the bottom of the stairs.
