Rear staircase balustrade for large new build
Here are some work in progress shots of a simple yet elegant rear, service staircase balustrade for a large private new build in Essex.
Due to the tight turns and limited space a side mounted 📖 balustrade 📖 was chosen with cast collars to cover where these affix into the stringer. A simple spindle 📖 design featuring a small cast iron boss provides an uncluttered feel and reflects the contemporary interior of the home. The balustrade is shown here ready to have the bespoke elliptical profile, mitred wooden handrail fitted.
This staircase runs all the way to the basement with a small, matching gate allowing access into the stairwell.
Above shows the balustrade after having the mitred handrail installed and perfectly encapsulates the technical complexity of the multiple transitions and joints on a staircase of this kind of layout.
We are also installing a grand sweeping balustrade to the main staircase….watch this space!
